Fire Risk Assessment over two phases

CLIENT: Beaumont Morgan Developments Limited

SECTOR: Residential

PRODUCT: Fire Risk Assessment

BACKGROUND:

Sovereign House is a large office block in Sheffield’s City Centre that is undergoing extensive refurbishments providing modern student accommodation of 178 flats. There is building work being carried out over 2 phases.

Phase 1 is to refurbish up to floor 9 and allow students to move in. Phase 2 is to extend the building from floor 9 to floor 12, enabling further flats to be released.

Phase 1 is complete, and the students are now living in the development. Phase 2 will be completed in April 2016 where an addition will be made to the initial fire risk assessment.

BRIEF:

The original brief from the client was to conduct a Fire Risk Assessment whilst extensive building work is underway within a tight timescale to enable part of the building to be let to students.

SERVICES PROVIDED:

Working in partnership with Beaumont Morgan Developments, Building Control Officers and Building Contractors, the fire risk assessment was completed, and outstanding work and policies were put in place ensuring that they meet with legislation under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, appease their insurance company and provide peace of mind for the parents of students living away from home.
